i’m not american which is why i’m very curious as to the reason behind this: i’ve been seeing sad tiktoks people saying they don’t wanna lose their undocumented parents grandparents etc or posting about being undocumented themselves. isn’t there digital footprint and isn’t that app now technically more monitored since trump? some people have their real names on their accounts i’m just so confused
My guess is that people want to vent and don't think these things clearly
Yeah, saying things like that on social media is really, really stupid and I guarantee ICE will use stuff like this to locate people.
You as a foreigner need to document these videos as you see them. You never know how much significance they may later have. I’m sure the significance of something like Anne Frank’s diary wasn’t understood at the time.
This is why you never tie your real-life identity to any social media. no facebook instagram etc.
From what is known Trump is going after those who have committed crimes first. However People posting that their grandparents are undocumented are literally giving ICE almost all the evidence they need for later deportations. Pretty much shooting themselves in the foot.
I think people are just trying to get their voice out there. Honestly from what I’ve seen here in the us, they will take anyone who’s isn’t white and can’t immediately prove citizenship. And sometimes that didn’t matter recently.
I am sadly lucky that I am in a white marriage and white family but I have friends and people I consider family who could be taken away. One being my best friends husband.

Americans have never experienced a real oppressive government and can't imagine how bad it can get. They're so used to just speaking their mind that it's going to take a while to set in just how controlling a fascist government can become.
