What’s going on over there re: Trump EOs?

I deleted my tiktok in November 2023 because the algorithm was serving me content about people losing pets right after my cat died and it was sending me into depression and anxiety spirals. Haven’t looked back tbh.

The rest of my socials (mostly just here and Bluesky right now) are freaking out about the Trump executive orders from the last 2 weeks. What’s the overall TikTok reaction to them? Are you getting content about them pushed? Are you seeing a lot of disinformation?

I used to teach a college class about research and tech, and some of my students told me they’d go to TikTok first rather than Google to look something up, so I’m curious about the kind of stuff they might be seeing right now.

There's a good amount of people talking about the EO's but a lot more preoccupation about the plane crashes. The best info is coming from people who are also on Bluesky, but the format of TT is more engaging and accessible.

My TT is full of pro trump. Can't stand the guy. Keep trying to block things, but it keeps popping up.

Trump is basically a dumb monkey throwing a ton of shit at once and hoping some of it sticks or is ignored. Hopefully the courts and congress can prevent some of this or the backlash from people who really matter to him (the rich) will be strong enough to make him clean it up himself.

Social media is not and never should be a way to get information on important world events. It’s unhealthy for the mind to have a constant stream of shit on a platform that is built to trigger engagement and since there is 0 accountability or fact checking.

TikTok’s algorithm is HEAVILY reactive so I suspect it’s widely different person to person. My fyp is all executive orders and it’s honestly making me too stressed to use the app for the most part but I also interact with that content so I feel it’s a self fulfilling prophecy.

Looking up shit on tiktok is the new "I did my research on Facebook"

My FYP is anti-Trump. I block pro-Trump shit as soon as it pops up, I don’t interact with it other than that.

I think I finally found a loophole to keep my fyp left. It was tough at first. I had the same issue where pro Trump stuff kept popping up and my left wing political followers were hidden. I just blitzed my following page and went crazy engaging on it. Commenting, posting, reposting, etc I also, checked on all of my old following to make sure everyone was there and engaged with them as well. My FYP is now happily left again. Whew!

I didn't have a lot of Trump stuff pop up but I had someone tell me "to take my fried bread back to Mongolia" and I am exhausted with the racism and decided to hide the app and leave.

I do have friends who left Tiktok that had similar problems with only pro Trump stuff popping up and also censorship problems.

I thought I'd miss Tiktok as I used to scroll a lot to kill time, but I already feel better away from it.

It’s overly sensored now. I got two violations this week. One was for a clown emoji, the other For saying they were ugly (new slang term) for something they said. The last one was crazy because what they said was bad.

My fyp is like 50% federal employees and federal employment lawyers at this point
