I saw a vid about it and had a look myself in the TikTok terms and conditions.

It's for the network connection to Facebook. This is under the document that is listing third-party supporters, so if you think this means Facebook owns tiktok, you are also saying Google, Apache, and anyone else listed in that document owns Tiktok

It is ob ious what this document is about if you're not snipping 15 pages down 2 paragraphs of it.

Nooo. Tiktok is using open-source code that Facebook owns the copyright to. That code is released under the 3-clause BSD license that says when you redistribute a program containing that code, you gotta include a copy of the license, like it says in the screenshot. Facebook makes a bunch of open source stuff that all sorts of companies, groups, individual people use and it doesn't mean they're owned by Facebook. Like look up reactjs and see who uses it. It's half the internet, and that's Facebook code released under the MIT license which is almost identical to 3-clause BSD and has the same requirement that stuff using it have a copyright notice like the one in the image

Yall who have no clue how these apps work have got to stop clogging up every social media subreddit with dumb conspiracy theory nonsense.

Dont know how many threads ive had to see saying meta owns tiktok now or something similar implied.

Facebook has always been able to connect to your tiktok so of course you will see references to Facebook in their documents like this.
