Trying to download TikTok (can’t)

Hello! So I recently got a new phone, and I am originally from the US so TikTok was not able to be downloaded on the new phone.

However, I’m currently in Japan and I thought it’d be a perfect time to download the app on the new phone! My VPN is for some reason is set to Singapore, but my actual geolocation is Japan, however, when I went to try and get TikTok the App Store still said that the app was not available in my country or region. What is happening? Is there a way to fix this?

*Edit: I also have my “US” Verizon cellular number switched off and my Japan SIM card installed.

If you have an American phone number or any association with the USA you can't download it

You need to change the region settings for your apple account also you don’t need to have the vpn on since you are in a different country change region to Japan and make sure Verizon is turned off
