Who is gifting all their money to these tiktokers?

this question has been haunting me i cannot understand why someone would want to donate huge chunks of their money to internet celebrities on live. i understand sending gifts to support your favorite tik toker however religiously sending hundreds to thousands of your dollars to random internet famous people is so insane to me. especially tiktok battles where they send money and the person doesn’t even care “keep sending gifts guys and tapping the screen”

I think some can actually afford it but most are just lonely. And some probably just recycle coins.

I have gifted to one tiktoker who is trying to raise money to get his son a prosthetic arm but that’s it. His son was born with an abnormality in his hand. He plays baseball and is very good but can’t really play much farther up without two useable hands so they’re saving up for a mechanical one.

Its the same mentality as investing.

They think if they put out enough money, they'll get laid.

They send $100, doesnt work. (Stock goes down)

Send $1,000, doesnt work. (Stock goes down)

Now they are invested. Now they feel the only way for the money to mean anything... is if they eventually get laid. So they keep throwing more and more.

We have a relative that is in very poor health and older. We cannot get our minds around how they tipped this creator who is simply just a good looking person with some silly videos TWENTY THOUSAND dollars!!! We initially thought $10k but it turned out to be $20k. I've been researching it and gifting can become an addiction. The gifter gets addicted to feeling special, chosen, powerful, and being called out on the tik tok live. They may also be chatting with the creator which then makes them feel special and fills a loneliness void. In our relative's case, they began to think that this creator was romantically interested in them. The creator is much younger and sorry but just no. Our relative and this creator would never be a romantic match in a million years. Sadly, relative is very sickly looking at this point and disabled.

It is truly bizarre to me that people get addicted to this and can end up giving huge sums to these people. They are getting nothing out of it and it is so obvious to everyone else that the creator is only giving them attention to keep the gifts rolling in.

Our relative gave the creator 6 lions, a Zeuss, and a TikTok Universe in just one battle. They have done this during NUMEROUS battles at this point. It is absolutely insane.

Reasonable reasons such as disability or sickness, series situations I can get behind

But for idiots that do it for attention (that chick with face tattoos of her baby daddy that abuses her but she continues to go back) I don't understand.

It's called support. Most ppl have built bonds with their audience.  I think another question would be why does anyone feel it's ok to watch and be entertained but not tip?  Besides they receive half of the gifts thrown. Wanted to mention that since you're pocket watching.

I love gifting the smaller accounts. I couldn't imagine giving to some rich person who doesn't give af about me though.
