Yo question

I want to post videos of me learning an instrument, playing covers to songs. However, copyright prevents this which I get it. I thought about choosing a song for the video and then playing over it but tik tok mutes you when you choose a song. Is this a new thing? Four years ago I think it wasn’t like this. Do any creative masterminds have any way around this? I remember you used to be able to choose a song and have it play quietly which I think you can still do but I’d have to record it separate and then the sounds have to sync up perfectly which sounds way too complicated for what it’s worth.
