Why does TikTok keep forcing my 1+ year old videos to people on my “friends” list

One of my buddies recently complained to me how annoying it was that whenever he opened the app it would play 3 or 4 of my (fairly old) videos before he could start scrolling. These videos are set to public and have all done fairly well (10-27k views and 3-5k likes) He’s not the first person who has complained about this to me, in fact I’d say he’s probably the 10th. Why is this happening? It’s incredibly annoying from all aspects and I can’t find any reason why.
