How long does the algorithm usually take?

So I’m trying, again, to see what the love is for TikTok. I redownloaded the app and have spent about a day just flipping videos .05-1.5 seconds since nothing is remotely interesting. Just a bunch of guys with mics in their hands talking.

I did a few quick broad searches to try and jump start this but nothing - I’ve been hearing how great the app is for learning and I keep flipping out videos.

Is it that I’m using it like I use instagram - follow my friends - instead of how I use YouTube where I search specific videos? But with YouTube, those videos are like 10-20 min long specific topics.

First off, what are you interested in seeing? Maybe we can name some people you can follow, or search phrases you can try.

The broad part of the algorithm works basically in 10 minutes or less. That is if you give it good input. So you watch longer on videos you like and possibly like them or follow people from those videos. Besides you could try searching to topics and clicking/watching interesting videos. If you do that it will tailor believe me. If not then you are probably not doing it right.
