Does TikTok typically recommend videos to people in your area?

I've been making TikTok for a few months now, usually get a few hundred to a couple thousand views. I forced my friend to create a TikTok and of course after a month of trying to force him on it he loves using the app. He showed one of my TikToks to his coworker (he's a plumber) and his coworker says "I know him! I watch his videos all the time!" All of us were pretty surprised lol so are most viewers coming from around your own area? I made one picture post that said long island but that was it other than I never put a location. (toxic takeout on TikTok)
