Tiktok is racist

The only explanation I have is TikTok’s AI sees this type of content gets tons of engagement, which it does, so it keeps pushing it, without really understanding what it is. Meanwhile, I got a violation for holding a marker in my mouth while hanging a photo… so yeah, who knows.

its been like that for me all year. i figure that every video like this is ragebait, but most of the racist comments are just weird humor. i have no proof, but i really suspect that the roaches from twitter left after elon took over, infested instagram reels, then came to tiktok with that same shit because if i'm being honest, i've started getting these weird videos since mid-2022?

it's so weird. every time i even get a video of so much as a little black baby smiling or a white person and black person getting married, i sigh as i open the comments. it's like this for EVERY video too, there's always "single mother" jokes or "13%/are we surprised?/it's always them" jokes. it's literally the exact same experience at this point if i were to go to my twitter timeline and just view the comments on any video of a black person. it's also as unavoidable as twitter too because, once again, all it takes is one black person, no matter what they're doing (even if it's just a baby) to see the horde of these comments.

i'm gonna delete tiktok soon for unrelated reasons, but that app isn't it... it's been weird for years, aggressively ramped up since last august or so and in my opinion, it's as burning trash as twitter now.

I think TikTok is rage baiting more because it does get more engagement. My fyp has really gone out of its way to get me to rage engage

Social media prioritizes engagement. Good or bad. Making people mad makes them engage so the algorithm has doubled down on it. Social media was never designed to be benevolent.

I decided yesterday to leave. Between YouTube shorts and the new SkyLight app I can get my scrolling fix without dealing with TikTok’s new fuckery.

Been racist for a while. My favorite is how many times i've seen "white women are oppressed by black men" last year 🙄🙄

Been off that app for years now due to the racism. I can only imagine it now.
