I can't follow anyone (this is rlly important)

So basically I made an account like 5 months ago so I could talk to my friend who lives overseas through tiktok as a backup. About ta month and a half ago she lost her reddit account, I managed to get tiktok to work, and I messaged her on there. 2 hours later I couldn't message her anymore. Why? It had forced me to unfollow her without asking. Can't follow her, can't follow anyone. It's been months. What do I do? I use the website version btw don't have access to it on my phone
