TikTok turning into Reels?

Maybe I’m old and easily annoyed but, why are TikToks slowly turning into Meta Reels? I have noticed the last few days, everytime I go to swipe down and swipe up to restart a video, it just continues to where I was.

I’ve tried waiting approx. 5, 10, and 15 seconds into the next video and it doesn’t matter.

Disclosure: yes I know I can back up, but not every TikTok is “back-upable.”

On top of that, the auto-start ads… ugh.

Honestly it does not bother me that much. Sometimes I swipe down by mistakes so being able to watch the video from where I left it and not tip towing my way back is nice in my opinion. It is an habit to get used to though. A bad « turn into reel » effect would be the tapping on screen to change from pause to mute.
