Do you watch a video from the "hook" or how many likes it has?

There are videos where it's a girl just smiling for 5 seconds and gets 7+ million likes or a person staring at a camera for 15 seconds with generic text like "Waiting in the car for Mcdonalds" with 400k+ likes.

Normally, I would swipe away immediately, but I only stay to watch cause I'm wondering why it has so many likes.
