Is BigShorts actually a good alternative to YouTube and Instagram for creators?

So I’ve been experimenting with short-form content lately—funny sketches, micro-dramas, and those 30-second reels that either go viral or vanish.
YouTube is great but feels algorithm-heavy. Instagram? Half the time I’m just fighting for reach.

Then someone mentioned BigShorts—apparently it's this new platform focused only on short stories, mini dramas, interactive videos, and UGC content.

I checked it out. Surprisingly clean UI, not cluttered like Insta or TikTok, and feels more story-first than trend-first. Also noticed a bunch of indie creators getting actual visibility there.

What I liked:

  • You don’t need to be an influencer to get traction
  • They promote proper storytelling (like, even 3-minute thrillers!)
  • Some interactive formats that feel pretty cool

But… I’m still figuring it out.
Has anyone here tried uploading on BigShorts? Or watching stuff there?
Is it worth investing energy as a creator, or just another flash-in-the-pan platform?

Genuinely curious what others think.
