My FYP is permanently, irreversibly broken
I'm a native English speaker living in continental Europe. TikTok has been serving me content related to my home country inspite of my physical location for several years now. I'd quickly scroll past the odd "local" video or tap 'not interested' and it's been fine. This suddenly changed about 10 days ago.
Now, local content makes up about 50-70% of my FYP. This local content comes in batches of about 20-30 consecutive videos and interrupts content that is otherwise catered to me. These batches of videos are completely unrelated to my niche interests and are highly repetitive (I've noticed many of the same videos re-appear up to three, four times).
When I first noticed this change, I just quickly scrolled past them until I reached regular content again. When I realized that this didn't work, I started tapping 'not interested' on each video, which didn't seem to work either. I've tried everything imaginable short of changing the actual app region, like setting up keyword filters, emptying my cache, refreshing my feed, logging out of my account, uninstalling the app... None of it works. The algorithm is completely unresponsive. Past issues with my FYP have resolved themselves within 2 days max. This seems like a permanent change.
I contacted support three days ago and have yet to hear back. If this persists for another week or so, I'm probably going to ditch the app. I guess I'm curious if any of you have experienced this same issue recently, particularly those who live abroad and don't speak the local language?
