Sounds like a good thing, the legal limit in most the world is currently 13 and kids get bullied and exposed to things they shouldn't on social media all the time.

Yes TikTok is a social media platform as is Reddit, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, X and all the rest.

It's good for the mental health of those just starting to find their footing in life.

They will listen as much as he did when he was 15 and, his parents moved him away and, told him to stay away from that teacher lady

It’s a nice theory and I agree that social media is easily misused and a risk to youths self esteem.

That said, it’s impossible to monitor this type of law or rule. How will this be policed, what is the consequences?

I’ve dealt with two too big for my britches kids (daughter and her son) and let me tell you that I can’t count on all my fingers and toes how many accounts on social media I shut down of theirs.

This is impossible to enforce and a waste of time to invoke or order.

Social media companies will have no punishment and therefore no reason to implement any policing. Even if they did, they’ll be ways around it or they’ll make it difficult for adults and they’ll lose their complete communities.

Kids definitely won’t adhere to it. And parents will never be able to catch it all.

Australia has also implemented something similar for under 16s, but the government still has no idea how they're going to actually enforce it lmao

I think it's a good idea tho, kids so young spending so much of their formative years on social media is honestly super damaging (low-key speaking from experience, I wish my mum limited my access to the internet while I was growing up)

When I first downloaded tiktok it took me less than a minute to be shown what looked like a middleschooler dancing sexually on a livestream and there were plenty of men watching with none of them telling her not to do that.
Kids and Teens don't need social media or at least need one that only teens are allowed to use and that doesn't have DMs

It a great thing. Social media is the downfall of humanity. Children arent developed enough to understand that. Most adults arent either... but we as adults should be looking out for children.
