New to TikTok: what is the point of Reposts?

Hey, everyone. I’m new to TikTok. I realized that you can repost a video that pops up on your FY, but I don’t know what that does. I do know that it goes to your profile, in your “reposted” videos, but can your followers actually see them without going to your profile? If not, only your stalkers can see them and I don’t think that’s the only point.
