Is there a way to actually get TikTok to stop showing you a certain topic?
There is a specific band that I have zero interest in seeing any content about. No matter what I try, TikTok keeps showing me content related to that band (news, concert videos, videos of people covering their songs, etc). Nothing I've tried so far has successfully gotten them off my FYP.
Things I've tried so far:
-
Selecting "Not Interested," selecting "Details," and selecting any related hashtags/sounds.
-
Fully blocking accounts that post videos related to the band.
-
Swiping away quickly to try to register disinterest in the subject.
-
Closing the app entirely when served a video related to the content to also try and register disinterest.
Despite this, I still get served videos about the band on a fairly regular basis. It's not a hugely famous band, so I don't think it's some kind of popularity thing. Also I don't use TikTok on my main phone, I have an old phone that I do nothing on except browse TikTok, so I don't think there are any other influences on my FYP besides what I'm interacting with on there.
I guess it'll be a moot point anyway in a few months, because I don't have any intention to switch over to US TikTok. At this point I'm more just curious if anyone can explain to me how you can get this app to stop showing you content you don't want to see.
