Did he or anyone else think money was a magical greed causing object? Obviously it has to do with what you can afford with it. But just to make one thing clear.
Fear of poverty does not breed greed. It breeds desperation at best. Greed obviously exists in with those that have more than enough to never have to fear poverty for the rest of their lives and they still steal, are greedy and do harm to others with the difference being that they legitimize those acts via the influence their money buys.
The crimes of those fearing poverty, when it is a state wide rising risk or reality, do not come even close to those who have way too much.
Money is an enabler, a tool for influence, force and shield from appropriate consequences.
So no this clip is a "flop" missing the actual bad money can cause.

Bullshit, I love Twain for a lot of things but he lived in a time when you either had money or didn't.
In our time, what little most of us have is worthless because those that have it, never have enough of it.
Evil isn't the absence of money, it's the absence of contentment.
