Is my account cooked

Hey yall,

My band and I have a TikTok we use to promote our music, post clips from music videos, etc.

For my full time job, I am a teacher. This yr the students found the band page (nbd, it’s all very PG) and it spread around our school super quickly. Just shy of 100+ new followers in less than a month

I was always pretty satisfied with how our content did on TikTok, esp considering that I don’t post consistently and it’s not TOP tier quality editing. I never cared bc I could consistently see our music was getting pushed to new people who were looking for just that -indie music

After the follow-bomb, everything changed. Way less views and new follows. Only people commenting now are the students. It’s clear the content is not getting pushed very far beyond our core followers anymore. From what I’ve researched, it might be a problem bc the algorithm DOES push based on what your current followers interact with.

I know for a fact all these kids watch is slop or just “aesthetic” edits or whatever, they’re not out here digging other small bands. What do I do? Trash the account and start fresh, blocking students when they try to follow? Just don’t worry and keep posting, rip a sponsored ad to get some new eyes on the stuff? I’m bummed.
