TikTok keeps changing my settings to allow DMs from everyone

This is so frustrating. A video I posted got over a million views and I keep getting DMs from creeps and weirdos. I turned off direct messages and close the app, open it back up and DMs are set to everyone again! It keeps changing back no matter what I do. wtf??
