Get used to seeing this on a LOT of sites in the US. Spotify said recently they would be implementing and many other big sites. Then Steam. Talks of YouTube as well. If any off the content you consume, or they perceive you to enjoy doesn’t seem suitable for minors they will require id. Wonder why? It all started because some big payment processors didn’t feel comfortable verifying payment for material they didn’t like. Not to put on the tin-foil hat here, but why would they suddenly care?
It’s really messed up that they want to track and sell all your data, and then threaten censorship(or atleast use this for an excuse) to obtain your ID information.
