"Supporting small creators" comments trend?

Hello! I've been seeing a ton of comments on videos with a screenshot of somebody liking that video (typically with a small amount of likes at the time), and them claiming they're "supporting small creators." What does this mean? I'm not really in on this at all.

I think the joke is that they go into a big creators video, (probably) use some bug to hide the actual like count and then pretend that the big creator is some unknown newcomer that needs support.
