Why are there spam book recs in the comments?

What is with the spam book recs in the TikTok comments? There are so many and they’re rarely relative to the video they’re commenting on. They also have hundreds of likes and comments.

Obvi these are probably all bots but I was just wondering if we know who’s behind it? Is it the book author or just some jabroni trying to make a buck?
