ANNOYED can’t edit my videos

I took a bunch of different clips and I’m trying to shorten them but the stupid transition buttons get in the way and I can’t even get to the option of shortening it without some weird transition taking over my videos. I had to just delete everything. Is there any way to take the option of even using a transition off??? It’s ridiculous
