My profile picture will not update no matter what I do - how do I change it?

There's no option to remove my profile picture and I have been stuck with this same profile picture for over a month now because it just will not change. I've tried it on the app any number of ways, I've updated it probably dozens of times at this point and it just shows the same old profile picture for everyone else.
