What's the point of gifts on tiktok?

I don't fully understand, I think TikTok gets a large portion of the money.

They are ~5 sec animations and you could always just give the girl or guy you're crushing on real money or buy them real things. I don't understand why you pay for an animation, and she or he doesn't even know who you are.

Is it some sort of pay pig mentality for all these people, do they realize how much they're spending on things that are imaginary, like tiny little animations?

Why do you throw your money away?

You could still support them monetarily, it just doesn't make sense why people buy the gifts to me, especially when TikTok takes half.

What about a platform where you can watch your fav creators and send them money, and they get all of it

It would only be for fans of the creators who want to support them, the free viewers aren't providing any income to you anyway

Its not imaginary.

The creator earns a portion of the cost of the gift.

Other websites do the exact same, some did it before tiktok, for example twitch has ‘bits’ which are a pretend gem that people gift to a creator, and the site takes a huge cut, and the creator gets the rest of the cash.
