Why are “Pipe” symbols dimmed in videos?

Also known as the vertical bar like this “|”. I saw these posts that had Part 1 or Part what not in their captions, followed by a vertical bar but it looks ingrained and dimmed. I tried it as well but it just looked like a normal text. Is it even the vertical bar? How can I do it?
