Is it safe to verify your account with your ID?

God TikTok has been a real pain lately with this stupid age verification, I am in my 20s, yet the app thinks I am 16, weird. Clearly am not. Anyways, I tried the one time opportunity, (because it never offered it again), to send in a selfie of me to determine my age, well it didn't want just that because I guess it wasn't good enough, so then it asked for a government issued ID, so I sent in my military ID, it also didn't want that. Then what happened next was just awesome, it took away my option of verifying with my credit card, so now it wants yep the last thing I can think of as a government issued ID, because I don't have a passport or a college ID, if only they would take a picture of my high school diploma or something. So! My question, is it really safe and legit to submit my ID because it feels weird for wanting specifically that..

Its safe yes. As safe as it is doing it with any of the other social medias. Your data is probably already bought and sold by every data broker anyway. Its all relative.

Get off TikTok. Problem solved. It’s a shit app especially since the US billionaire takeover of social media. Same for X & Meta. Reddit is next to be fully enshittified (it’s mostly there already)

No clue. Never had to do the age verification via ID. Not yet anyway.
