Search feature not working.

How come the search feature is another button to see your for you page. Ive literally typed my friend's username just to get gibberish and then in another search the exact description on one of his videos just to see videos and users not related, and no matter how much i search its impossible to find my friend unless he gives me a direct li'nk(why cant u write this word) to his profile.
