On this day feature

So I was looking at my inbox and I saw “on this day” feature. I realized to my horror it showed two very personal photos of myself. It said it was only visible to my followers but it still left me horrified. I immediately stopped sharing my photos. Who knows how long this has been going on since I don’t check my inbox every day. Is that feature available for everyone to see or is it just visible if I post it?
