Can anyone explain to me how did this happen?

I went ahead and checked my TikTok account, I had 17 followers (most were my friends) to say the least then suddenly it shows zero followers. I thought it was just a display bug so I restarted the app, but then it still shows zero followers. I refreshed the page, I checked if anybody hacked my account via Security and permissions but it was just my phone that’s logged in. I asked my friend if they could check my account on their phone and they were met with also zero followers too at my account. I am very confused as to why and how this happened because I wouldn’t unfollow and remove everybody so suddenly. When I went and checked my Following list, all of my mutuals showed “Following” instead of “Friends” as the placeholder in the button. However, TikTok’s still telling me I have 11 friends so how did this even happen?

probably some weird server sync issue on their end. I've seen this before where the follower count gets messed up but friends counter stays correct because they're tracked differently in database. The "Following" instead of "Friends" thing is definitely related - seems like the mutual connection got broken somehow but your actual friend connections are still there. Should fix itself after few hours when their servers sync properly again.
