Why is it so embarrassing trying to promote your content to friends/family?

I just recently decided to make a true crime tiktok account because it’s something that’s always interested me. Decided to share it with my family and friends. Immediately regretted it because it just makes me feel a little awkward. How do you guys push videos out to the algorithm on a new tiktok account? I use slideshows and text. I don’t speak or show my face at all in these videos.

There's something about people you actually know watching your stuff that feels weirdly more exposing than strangers, even when you're not showing your face

For the algorithm early on, posting consistently matters more than anything, and using niche-specific sounds that are already trending in the true crime space tends to help push new accounts to the right viewers
