Music/Copyright question

I plan to add a song on a tiktok i'm making for an organization. The song's ~3 minutes long but I cut it down to a minute and 19 seconds. According to the creator it's copyright/dmca free, but they added 'as long as it's under 30 seconds.' So if I were to upload said tiktok, would it be muted?

Ideally the person that owns the music needs to upload it on their own channel or distribute it with a music distribution service if they want to. Then you would simply link to their music when uploading to Tiktok, there are tools to "use this sound" in Tiktok or select the audio from the library.

It's risky to upload someone else's music in your own video if you don't own the copyright to it. Even if they say it's okay, you don't necessarily know if they even own the copyright. So to be safe, only use Tiktok's built in tools to add music to your video but don't upload the actual music file in your video.

Have to be careful on Tiktok, YouTube... even if the music is AI, if the person wrote the lyrics it still has copyright integrated into the AI and can result in a DMCA takedown.
