Question about age verification

if you have an id, does it have to be one that you got at age 18? I’m 17 and got my id this month and failed to verify with it, and I figure it’s likely because of me not being 18. Is being 18 and having an id at the same time required?

according to their website people can use IDs if they are 16 and older, so it SHOULD work according to them, maybe a different issue.
