With most of the elders in my life, if they live past 87, they all have indirectly said they are ready to go.

Grammy is done.

I used to work in a funeral home. Some of the “regular”olderly ladies that often attend various services would often walk in the front door and say “I’m Next”.
Me: Yes, Dorris. Just let me take your coat.

They saying "stop it" but nobody's saying shes wrong

I feel like this went on further and was cut off for effect.

She sounded like she was just starting a speech or something.

One thing I dont think people take into account with elders in social situations, is their ability to handle it emotionally as "people" and not just "grandma".

My grandma had bad depression and I found her upstairs alone crying during family events. Not in an attention seeking histrionic fashion just in a, discretely slipped away from the party for a while fashion.

I think the emotions and dynamics of it all just got too much for her, but you just expect old people to have enough "wisdom" to be able to navigate things like this

My mom told the used car salesman on a lot that this would be the last car that she ever bought she was 66 and in great health. She's still kicking and still unpleasant

I had a much much older friend and when her daughter asked her what she wanted for her birthday she said “I want to die.”

I love how she just blew the candles out on her own time. She wasn’t waiting for them to stop singing.
