microsoft owns linkedin (imo that is social media). google owns youtube. maybe it is time for Apple to start a social media given the rise of Muse creating personal dossiers on all of its users (Meta - Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp). or even acquire one? I would love to use something other than tiktok, snapchat, instagram, youtube, or linkedin. apple?
youtube announced this in august and it kicks in february 1 2027. new channels will need 8,000 watch hours in the last 365 days, up from 4,000, or 20 million shorts views in the last 90 days, up from 10 million. the 1,000 subscriber bar stays. if youre already in the partner program youre grandfathered in, you just have to accept the new terms in studio by january 31 to keep earning on the affected features thats the headline everyone ran. the line i almost missed is on youtubes own help page. to earn from the shorts creator pool each month, creators will need to maintain 10 million qualified shorts views over the last 90 days. the page doesnt spell out whether that part hits people already in the program the same way 10 million every 90 days is a lot for a shorts channel doing fine but not great. you could be monetized on paper and still get nothing from the shorts pool in a slow stretch youtube says the point is to fund new incentive programs for creator growth. my read is the long tail of small shorts channels just got priced out of the pool and whatever was spread across them ends up with the top channels anyone here in ypp mostly on shorts, are you clearing 10 million a quarter right now
I was thinking about this the other day. We used to treat the blue checkmark on Twitter or Insta as this little status thing, like oh you're somebody. LinkedIn's got its own verified badge now too. And the whole point of those was basically "this account is legit." But with how much AI and bot stuff is everywhere now, I feel like the flex is quietly shifting. It's not "I'm verified as important" anymore, it's becoming "I'm verified as an actual human being." Which is a hilarious bar to have to clear honestly. Congrats, you're a person, here's your badge. And the way you'd earn that badge is kind of low effort compared to the old verification circus, from what I've seen it's usually just a quick selfie, you show your face for a second and it confirms a real person's there. A few tools already do versions of this (Selfie Check, iProov, Incode, I think). I don't remember the exact details of each, something about proving you're a real unique human without your actual name or ID attached to it. So you could imagine a near future where that little "real human" tick is worth more than the old blue one ever was. Kind of a funny and weird timeline where proving you're not a robot is the new clout.
Hey everyone, looking for advice from social media managers or anyone who’s grown a page that actually makes money. My page is in the geography and history niche. Recently it blew up: * Facebook: 20M views, around 75K followers * TikTok: \[75K\] followers * YouTube: \[8K subscribers / 100K views?\] The problem is I’m only earning from views, and it’s not much. I want to figure out how to turn this growth into real income. Right now my “strategy” is just uploading good content every week, plus some photo posts. That’s it. I don’t have an actual plan. So my questions are: 1. What should I be doing daily or weekly to keep the momentum going? 2. What are the best ways to monetize a Facebook page beyond view payouts? 3. How should I be connecting Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube so they help each other grow? Any techniques, tips, or next steps would be a huge help. Thanks in advance!
