Its been less than 4 days and Americans have already ruined it for others by purposely being ignorant lol. Sucks cause I never even got to try the app yet
It's the algorithm. Maybe try searching keyword in Chinese to train your feed.
Can't believe what I've seen on RedNote. I am no longer convinced that we are living in a "first-world country". It's just insanely eye-opening.
Unlike TikTok, which operates on separate servers for China and the rest of the world, Rednote runs primarily on servers in China. Because of this, the platform must follow Chinese government content regulations. This is also why sensitive identity verification like passport and phone number is required. From my experience using other China-based platforms, such as the Chinese TikTok, Tieba, Fupu, and Zhihu, they all follow the same government content rules. Without real identity verification, your account will be restricted, and you wonāt be able to post or interact normally. Rednote is especially strict about content sensitivity. If you look into Rednote's community rules, youāll see that the platform emphasizes creating an extremely positive environment, aiming to maintain a good image and comply with Chinese government content regulations. This approach inevitably limits freedom of expression and creativity on the platform. Even posts with slight negativity or sensitive wording can lead to account penalties, and the punishment system is quite harsh. Depending on the severity of the violation, users may face shadowbans, function restrictions, comment bans, hidden notes, or even full account bans. One thing I personally dislike is that sometimes your topics gets flagged for being āsensitive,ā while at the same time many female creators post borderline revealing content to attract views, yet the platform rarely takes action. This inconsistency is particularly frustrating. Despite the strict moderation, I canāt deny that Rednote has one of the best organic traffic algorithms among Chinese social apps, arguably even better than TikTokās. Around 80ā90% of a postās traffic typically comes from the front-page recommendation system, and when you post a note, the algorithm actively pushes it to users, allowing you to gain exposure without paid promotion. If your content is high quality and uses appropriate hashtags, your posts can stay near the top of keyword searches for a long time, resulting in significant traction, likes, saves, and followers, all without spending any money on promotion. Rednote presents a unique balance of strict regulation and powerful opportunity. While its rigorous content moderation and mandatory identity verification can feel restrictive and inconsistent, especially regarding sensitive topics, the platformās highly effective organic traffic algorithm offers creators unparalleled visibility and growth potential. For those willing to navigate its rules carefully and produce high-quality content, Rednote can be a rewarding platform that combines significant reach with the opportunity to build a strong, engaged audienceāall without relying on paid promotion.
Found out they likely made a new server for international users. In the [Xiaohongshu User Privacy Policy](https://agree.xiaohongshu.com/h5/terms/ZXXY20230227002/-1): >In this Policy, "Xiaohongshu" refers to a product distinct from its overseas-operated version, "rednote". Users of Xiaohongshu and rednote are distinguished by their mobile phone numbers. This Policy applies to Xiaohongshu users, specifically: >Users who have registered with a mobile phone number from Chinese Mainland; and >Users who have already registered as Xiaohongshu users using a mobile phone number outside Chinese Mainland before December 8th, 2025. >After December 8th, if you register with a mobile phone number outside Chinese Mainland, you will be a rednote user and the rednote Privacy Policy shall apply. In the [rednote Privacy Policy](https://agree.xiaohongshu.com/h5/terms/ZXXY20251205002/-1): >Specifically, Xiaohongshu App operating in China will be interoperable with rednote Platform; this means that public User Content and profile can be shared and accessed by a user of Xiaohongshu platform, and you can communicate, interact with a user of the Xiaohongshu platform. TLDR: They're putting new foreign users after 12/8/2025 in a new Singapore-based server instead of China server. The new server is interoperable with China's server. EDIT: [Rednote (Intl)](https://agree.xiaohongshu.com/h5/terms/ZXXY20251205003/-1) and [XHS (China)](https://agree.xiaohongshu.com/h5/terms/ZXXY20250119002/-1) have different ToS. EDIT #2 (3/8/2026): changed TLDR because it might be more then just user data.
2I ran into this absolutely beautiful cosplay and wanted to learn more about the person who made it, but it turned out that they were posting on rednote and I JUST CAN'T CREATE AN ACCOUNT THEREš it's impossible for me to receive the verification code, I've been trying for days... I don't have any friends I could ask about it, so I hoped someone on this sub could lend me a quick hand. I beg you, could anyone please just look into their profile real quick and tell me whether they have more posts with this look and, if lucky, a hair tutorial? I WOULD BE SO GRATEFUL!! Here's their presumed username: ę¾ēæ¼ę²”äŗ
can you view the vods or livestream replays for this site at all? 1. the rednote app seems to have the listings of the vods but theyre not clickable, at least on android. Not sure if im missing something, or theyre not watchable on replay at all. 2. learned that they actually have a desktop/browser version, but whenever i try to go to xiaohongshu dot com login redirects you to rednote dot come instead. so the way i see it, its a limitation of my region or where my account is based from? is there another way to view these vods from NA/US? the app have the vod lists/logs surely theyre store on some server somewhere. and i think using vpn or direct address linking of the stream (eg. https://www.xiaohongshu.com/fe/live-h5/page/live_replay/..., https://www.xiaohongshu.com/hina/livereplay/...) also isnt doable? so if theres none, then at least im looking for a third party trackers or some loggers of those streams? ps. i know profile users can also disable, but ive checked a dozen or so channels and the vod lists are just unclickable.
