I been digging on the subject recently for a documentary style video.
These are gift farming lives. The girls (and sometimes boys) you see performing dances or whatever are employed by companies called Influencer farms (or influencer incubators)
This phenomenon first started in Asia, specifically China. On platforms like taobao (owned by Alibaba, chinese Amazon) or Douyin (chinese tiktok) you have thousands of “influencers” seeling goods on live. As fake advertising has plagued the country, the public now put their trust into influencers.
Now you see lots and lots of lives where some talents will perform dances or sing or anything really, for gifts.
As for how it works, it’s easy: Girl A is assigned gift 1. If gift 1 is sent, girl A dances. The audience is pushed into sending more gifts to support their favourite girl.
If you ever consider gifting in these types of lives be aware that some can be prerecorded.
Its less likely for these dancing lives but for other gift farming content (like a rose = a farting noise when someone tries to sleep) it can be easily faked or looped.
If you have other questions you can lmk, i have learned a LOT. Like a lot a lot.
Note: excuse my syntax lol english is not my first language i can be confusing at times.
