Cast on crit hexblast oracle

This is my pob: https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/charizord-8664/character/Andacle

I wanted to make a caster oracle that doesn't have to use covenant. Life sustain is usually solved by spell leech, which blood mages get for free, but I wanted to run a similar build on oracle which could run atziri's splendour or temporalis.

I took inspiration from the zero duration titan. We can use time of need to sustain our life costs. With all reduced duration nodes and a palm of the dreamer with -13% duration, we get 85% reduced duration. Time of need also has a bug where you can socket in Hayoxi's Fulmination and Overabundance 1 for 50% less skill duration (I also tried swift affliction 3, but that didn't seem to work). Along with compressed duration 2, this lets time of need proc every 0.46 seconds. It isn't as good as a titan, but in practice it is fine since we one shot everything.

Since we have low duration, this rules out spark as a trigger, since sparks don't last long enough. I opted for a curse setup with doedre's undoing. At this point, I thought I could also make hexblast work instead of comet. Hexblast has higher base damage but isn't as spammable. The way hexblast works is it explodes curses only if at least half the duration has expired. Since we have low duration, I wanted to try putting hexblast into cast on crit and make it proc off my self cast curse (I chose despair for my curse since we can take dark entries to level this and hexblast up).

Unfortunately, there isn't really a good way to find out how long it takes cast on crit to trigger a spell to see if hexblast even triggered. In the tooltip for "trigger", it says it happens immediately, but there still seems to be a small delay. My guess is around 0.08s, but it's hard to confirm exactly. If we can get our curse duration down, then hexblast can proc reliably. The way I tested this was putting withering touch with hexblast and checking if things get withered.

You want curse duration around 0.08-0.16s to reliably proc hexblast. To get curse duration down, we can use the node "master of hexes" around whispers of doom for -25% duration. This unfortunately brings the curse duration down below zero, and this prevents hexblast from proccing. There are a few alternatives.

- Don't use palm of the dreamer, which makes your curse duration 3%, you may still need compressed duration (you could also use a palm with exactly 1 or 2% reduced skill effect). This almost doubles the time of need duration though, so I didn't like it as much. You can also wear rathpit in this setup for more damage, but you lose some spirit.

- Use a time lost jewel with small passive skills grant 2% increased curse duration and take 6 small passives (normal jewels aren't good, they give back too much duration). This lets you keep the small duration of time of need, while still lowering the curse duration to just 2%. You can get a corrupted one that still has double crit damage so it's not a wasted spot.

There are a few other uniques that were good:

- Windscream boots. Makes curse activation instant. This lets you also run whispers of doom without the downside and blasphemy + temp chains if you have the extra spirit for safety (be careful with temp chains, it makes curses expire slower, so you still may need compressed duration to offset it). You can solve curse activation with some passive points + jewels, but I didn't find it worth it to lose a jewel slot since I'm running a lot of time-lost jewels.

- Plaguefinger gloves. Get one with +1 all chaos skills. Poison chance and all damage contributes to poison is good, but not that important. A rare glove is comparable, but my tooltip dps was higher with plaguefinger.

- Choir of the storm amulet. I found a rare amulet is better for just purely optimizing hexblast with extra spirit + spell skills. However, choir is a good alternative to make your crits do more damage

The final setup fully takes advantage of the oracle ascendency with 10 keystones and inevitable crits. It also takes advantage of low duration in two ways, one to make time of need proc enough to sustain life costs, and two to make curse duration low enough to proc hexblast automatically. I would say bloodmage is still better and is meta for a reason, but I did learn a lot optimizing this build. There are probably more improvements that are still possible, but I got to level 100 with this build, so I probably won't dive into it much further.

Wow great stuff. I've been trying to figure this out too for the same reason, didnt want to use the covenant/blood mage route. I knew there HAD to be a way but eventually i just gave up in frustration because I was spending too much currency/gold with all of the switching around and not playing the game. So I just abandoned the druid and played my djinn sorc.

Good thing is I have alot of this gear already in my stash!

Im looking at your tree now and there are several nodes that scale minion attack, etc. Why is that?

Edit: oh I think I get it, movement speed.

I decided to try stacking energy shield - at minimum level.

I got bored at this stage in the league and decided to spend many of my hard earned divines on a small project. Wouldn't it be funny to stack Energy shield for a min-level char? [https://poe.ninja/poe2/pob/1a027](https://poe.ninja/poe2/pob/1a027) Tabula rasa has relevant jewel mods noted on it in POB so the math actually works out since it doesn't seem to work properly in POB. second screenshot is with a lvl 29 discipline aura with 36% increased aura magnitude - I didn't wanna spend another several thousand divines on a support character, I just wanted to see how well it would work theoretically >3000 ES without aurabot is possible, however, its basically impossible in practice. As of now, there are \*18\* 2 socket uncorrupted crown of thorns left on trade - on average it takes \~11 to hit a 30% and then another 1 in 3 to get a 3 socket one. Hitting a double corrupt on said 3 socket would be better then my current one, but that's not plausible sadly. Same for the boots. Hitting a better double corrupt on the gloves and focus would likely be plausible, but I couldn't buy more bases from Finn. Grip of Kulemak 59% ES \*should\* be possible, but it already took me over 40 attempts to hit 57% so I think I'll just leave it as is. Belt I didn't find any other way besides the 25% corrupt to get ES without a level requirement - if anyone has any idea tell me. Amulet could sanctify for 19/19 but again, would require silly amounts of currency (each try is \~30 div as is with annoint + sanctify + quality). I \*think\* patient barrier should be best annoint, but correct me if I'm wrong. Total investment into this character so far is about 3000 divines, probably a bit more. further thoughts \- maximum technically possible is 3112 ES at level 2 unless I'm missing something important. POB [https://poe.ninja/poe2/pob/1a02a](https://poe.ninja/poe2/pob/1a02a) \- doubting this but: is it possible to get an ascendency at this low level by skipping straight to geonor with a helper? In which case it might be possible that xp penalties kicking it would allow me to ascend at lvl 2? This would allow +20% +20% (ascendency) +60% (jewel) ES, which would get me to 3218 ES (actual build) / 3732 ES (max technically possible) Did I miss anything?

Rakiata who?

Rakiata who?

I made an elemental crossbow varashta sorc this season as my starting build (goal was to exploit yoke of suffering's full potential, you can find poe ninja below, don't be fooled by the dmg tooltip, it kill ubers before they can move) and so since I was in the intel side of the tree I used my weapon swap to maximize exposure (with whispering ice) and curse magnitude. Here with some non-optimized gear I'm reaching a total of -338% res (that's -169% on bosses), meaning it's better than rakiata's. I use cursed ground support to apply the curse and icestorm (which comes with the staff) with prolonged duration and potent exposure to make the exposure last longer. This tech doesn't require much investment apart from your weapon swap and a few sockets at most so it can be plugged into many elemental builds. As it is now, it requires you to cast the spells with your weapon swap, so I use it mostly for bosses, but i might cast icestorm on bulky rares in juiced maps once in a while. If you have a skill dedicated for mapping, it'll propably better to use rakiata on it, and remove it or use another skill for bosses. Here's the poeninja: [https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/McZaatar-0907/character/Dendjala](https://poe.ninja/poe2/profile/McZaatar-0907/character/Dendjala) I might make a build showcase if people are interested, it's a fun league starter build. With yoke and the electrocution node on the tree, enemies have 120% damage taken, more if they're cursed, on top of the giant res drop, plus you benefit from a lot of the "damage against enemies with ailments nodes" so that's why the tooltip is low (explosive grenades indicate 60k in game but they hit bosses for like 2M) at first I was playing with permafrost bolt with frost nexus + navira's fracture + fragmentation rounds, it was a fun combo and really strong for leveling but I couldn't scale navira's fracture damage in late game (I had command + minion nodes on my second weapon instead of the curse/exposure at the time) Hope this inspires some of you!
