It’s from Mexico, but it was invented by an Italian, and is probably classified as Italian American cuisine

I don’t get it. The ladies didn’t say Cesar salad was from Italy, so why are the two guys saying it’s from Mexico? Are the guys saying unless it was originally made in Italy everything else is shit when Italians make it?

This may be mean, it's been a long week, but when I see these two and their tired shtick it just makes me sad what passes for entertainment

Gotta love Italian people. What other culture in the world likes food?

Regardless of "where it is from" it's pretty hard to fuck up a salad.

Oh I get it. This is one of those moments where a woman tells a joke, and then it goes over an influencer's head and they feel compelled to explain the joke to the rest of us who were too slow to pick up on the original punchline

Why do these always make the OP out to be stupid when it's the duet that tends to be the slow party?

It's a bit complicated. Caesar Cardini, the inventor of the Caesar salas is Italian who was born in 1896 and raised in Italy.

He immigrated to California in 1913 when he was 17 years old, and visited Montreal, Canada and went back to Italy before returning to California, USA in 1919, when he was 23 years old. He lived in Sacramento CA and then moved to San Diego CA.

He then established several Italian restaurants in Tijuana Mexico in the 1920's so that he would not be bound by prohibition. He created the very popular Caesar salad in 1924. He would make the salad "to give the dinner guests a show as well as a meal", putting together the ingredients in the middle of the dining room. He considered all of his restaurants to be Italian Restaurants. He went back to San Diego and LA in 1936 after prohibition ended.

Therefore it is fair to call Caesar Salad an Italian dish, created by an Italian-American-Mexican chef in Tijuana, Mexico. On a personal note, his restaurant is still there in Tijuana and I recommend the Caesar Salad there.

Y'know, Europeans fucking up Mexican food is a time honored tradition at this point.
