Just made an account but I can't follow anyone, like any posts, or edit my profile. Anyone know what's up?

Never used tiktok before, just signed up today.

For a while it wouldn't let me edit my name, but eventually I was able to. And I was able to upload a profile photo. But I can't do anything else.

When I try to follow someone or like a post, it acts normal - it does the little animation and says "following" or shows that I liked it. But if I leave the person's profile, or the post, and then go back to it, I'm suddenly not following them anymore, and whatever post I liked isn't liked.

I tried just scrolling on the Home feed and liking posts to see if anything happened. Interestingly enough the feed DID start showing me stuff that was related to accounts I had followed and posts I had liked. But as I said, if I go to those accounts/posts, they're not followed/liked.

I tried to do the verification thing but when I try to do anything (such as write my bio) it says "you're editing too fast" when I try to Save.

I didn't use a vpn or any roundabout ways of creating an account. I've tried both on my phone and in a browser on desktop. Is this just a waiting game for new accounts or what?
