Has anyone else’s algorithm been messed up?

Like, seriously. I used to only get stuff for like fandom or animation memes. Really nerdy loser shit.

But now I keep getting more and more posts with like… 500k to 1 mil likes. I don’t want to say they’re basic, because I don’t wanna look like that guy, but like… very basic videos, the kind of stuff you’d see if you had just opened an account.

I’ve tried everything to get my fyp back to how it used to be, but nothing works. I’ve blocked accounts, said I’m not interested, searched up and liked all the videos that pertain to what I do want to see… nothing. It’s like actually pissing me off

I don’t want to seem like a conspiracist, since this is just a tinfoil hat theory, but like. Is it just tiktok trying to show off more marketable accounts? Influencers = money or something

Idkkk I’m so annoyed

mine’s been doing the exact same thing, it’s infuriating. suddenly my entire feed is just generic lip syncs with millions of likes and i genuinely don’t know how the app decided i’d want that.

the tinfoil hat part of me thinks they’re pushing those accounts harder to keep bigger creators on the platform, like a weird retention tactic for the people who bring in the most ad money. either way i’ve just started closing the app the second i see one, probably not doing much but it feels better than watching it.

I had a similar issue with the shop kept recommending me bra’s and woman’s lingerie despite i’m a guy.

And they force promote soooo much. It feels like you literally have to pay money to get more than 300 views

If you like a video with a shop ad, it'll show you more shop ads.

You can also reset your FYP at any time if it grows stagnant with content you don't like.

My fyp will give me a handful of videos that actually pertain to my interests before defaulting to the generic fyp as if I just created an account. It’s so frustrating when I want to scroll for a bit. The only bright side is spending less time on the app because it’s no longer fun or interesting. The only way to “fix” it is to completely close out the app, but the same thing happens where I’ll get the generic fyp after a few videos.

The work I sent was even pushed to some Southeast Asian countries and regions in South Africa and the Philippines. I live in Los Angeles. It can actually push my work to Southeast Asia. Its algorithm is terrible.

Does “liked a video you reposted” tell you they visited your profile, or can it happen from their FYP?

If I go to someone’s profile, open their reposts, and like one of the videos directly from their repost tab, does TikTok still send them a notification saying **“\[username\] liked your repost”**? Or did TikTok remove that specific notification and now say something like **“\[username\] liked a video you reposted”**? I’ve seen older posts saying there used to be a distinction between the two, but I’m wondering what TikTok does currently in 2026. Also, if the exact same TikTok someone reposted just appears on my FYP and I like it there, would they get a notif? Bc SO many of my moots repost TikToks that end up on my FYP and I like them, so would they get a notif every single time?? Basically I’m trying to figure out if the notification actually tells them that I went to their profile/reposts and liked it from there, or if they could’ve just gotten the TikTok on their FYP. I’m asking bc I wanna know if someone liking one of MY reposts means they actually went on my profile/reposts or if they could’ve just seen it on their FYP 😭 I HOPE IM MAKING SENSE LMAO

Issues with saved sounds/videos

Hi! For the past 2 weeks or so my saved videos/sounds don't load. When I restart the app it eventually works but it still is annoying. Did anyone experience this and knows how to fix it? Thank you in advance!
