Shadow banning in women’s health

Do feel that shadow banning when related to women’s health will cause issues in the future for women?

I’m still unclear on what shadow banning is and how it happens. I see tons of health focused adds and posts in my feed but they only really come up more if I engage or watch ONE that makes its way to me.

You know what? I need more identity politics in my social media sub. What the hell is this framing?

Anyone else wish you could just see posts from people you follow, without the algorithm deciding for you?

I got fed up with feeds full of suggested/random content instead of the people I actually follow. Curious if this resonates with anyone else here or if I'm overthinking a problem nobody else has.

Does anyone else feel like social media has stopped being social?

I've been thinking a lot about how social media has changed over the years. Originally, the idea was pretty simple: connect with people, share things, discover communities, and have conversations. But somewhere along the way, the focus shifted. Today, almost everything seems to revolve around reach, engagement, impressions, followers, and algorithms. People are incentivized to post whatever gets the most attention, while platforms are incentivized to keep us scrolling for as long as possible. And then there's the growing number of bots, AI-generated content, fake engagement, and accounts that aren't necessarily interested in genuine conversations. It sometimes feels like we're all participating in a giant competition for attention instead of actually connecting with each other. A small team I'm part of has been asking a question: **What would social media look like if we designed it around genuine human interaction instead of maximizing engagement?** We're actually working on a new decentralized social platform based on that idea. We're not claiming we can solve every problem. But we believe that if you start from scratch, you can make fundamentally different decisions about how a social platform should work. I'm curious what others think. **If you could change one fundamental thing about today's social media platforms, what would it be?**

Is social media marketing becoming less about followers and more about distribution?

# Is social media marketing becoming less about followers and more about distribution? A brand can have 100K followers and still get little reach, while a small account can get millions of views from one post. So what matters more today: **building a large audience or creating content that algorithms distribute widely?** **Curious what SMM people think.**

How do people add line breaks in TikTok captions

I keep seeing TikTok captions with clean spacing and line breaks, but I can’t figure out how people do it. When I hit the return/enter button, TikTok deletes the line break and smushes everything together. How are creators adding those spaces?

My client was paying for 20 hours and using 9. I almost lost them by saying nothing.

For three months I told myself a quiet client was a happy client. They were on a 20 hour a month retainer. When I finally added up what I had actually done, it came to about 9 hours in September and 8 in August. The posts went out, nothing broke, and I cashed the same check, so I did not look closer. Then their ops person asked on a call, almost as an aside, what the retainer covered again. That question is never really about the list. She could not feel the other 11 hours, so in her head the work had shrunk. I went back through the last quarter and wrote down what was scoped but unused: a monthly report nobody had opened since June, community replies I had quietly stopped doing when approvals slowed down, and a batch of story posts we planned and never shot. Some of that was on me. I had let the slow approval weeks turn into doing less instead of flagging it. So instead of defending the invoice, I brought the list to the next call. I showed the hours they were paying for, the hours they actually got, and three ways to fill the gap with work they had been asking about in passing: reply coverage on weekdays, one short video a week cut from footage they already had, and a simple monthly summary their owner would actually read. They picked two of the three and cut the unused report. Same fee, no discount, and the next month used 18 of the 20 hours. What I took from it: over delivering has a loud problem, you burn out. Under delivering has a quiet one, the client decides you are optional and you only find out at renewal. Now I check the burn rate on every retainer once a month, and if a client is under about two thirds of what they pay for, I raise it myself before they do. How do you catch this on your accounts? Do you track hours against scope, or do you go by deliverables only?

Anyone using Flick Social?!

I use Flick Social for work but lately I've been getting a "lost connection" error. This happens almost weekly. Now, I'm getting an error message that "This app is not accessible right now...". Anyone else having issues? Is there a workaround or am I stuck until Flick gets their act together??
