In that same article, "Around the world, at least 1 woman in every 3 has been beaten, coerced into sex, or otherwise abused in her lifetime. Most often the abuser is a member of her own family or is her partner."

Women walk around the world worried about being assaulted because 1 in 3 women is ~736,000,000 women who have been assaulted. And thats only the reported number. Imagine the unreported numbers.

Practicing empathy needs to be taught in schools because I swear the point goes over yalls head so much. It took me like 15 seconds to find this information.

Or all of the other instances of a group of men knowing and participating or knowing and not acting to stop....

How is there not at least one guy who says: no, this is not ok and does something?

I believe there was at least one guy who thought this was wrong and did not participate

But why did he not do something?

Going to the police over campus authority is the correct tip. Whether the police will get justice for the victim is a toss up, but they have better results than campus police.

I'm pretty sure not all lions would eat me, but, y'know... precautions are warranted.

I reported my assault. Police pressed charges for felony assault. They told me they couldn’t find him for the arrest he may have left town.

He comes back to town 5 years later. I notify the police. They said nothing can be done, we dropped your case because we could not find him.

I said “but there was a warrant?”

Police said “Yeah but 5 years has passed”

I said “but warrants don’t expire?”

Police said “Sorry. We won’t help you”.

Sure. Report your assault to the police or whatever. That helps lol.

Although it bothers me more that it is a real issue that overwhelming abuse happens male to female, it bothers me that the discourse stays focused on “all or nothing” and “purity testing”. Can we really have a discussion when people cling to rhetoric and that becomes the focus? Of course it isn’t literally “all men”, that’s a slogan meant to emphasize entire cultures that contribute to the problem…but the more we pigeon hole ideas into catchy sound bytes the more we lose actual discourse and it turns into factions yelling slogans.
