Why did Omen of Light dump so hard?

Why is Omen of Light so cheap right now? I tried looking for information but couldn’t find anything, except people stacking wisps to farm Omens.

Of course, Preserved Bone will increase in price, because in the current situation, normal rolling is much more profitable than using Ancient Bone.

But what’s even harder to understand is why Ancient Bone is still priced so high, because based on experience and weight calculations, normal rolling is actually 3 to 4 times harder (depending on the mod you want).

If you don’t have a temple, farming omen of lights was the next best thing, it’s been heavily farmed I guess

People farmed the hell out of them because it was the second best farming strat.

Less players = less crafting = less trading = less quick profits.

As for the lesser currency, those are traded and used more frequently than their ancient versions so it jacks the prices. Additionally, since omens are cheaper, its much more efficient to reroll desecrations multiple times than a couple times using ancients.

Dead game

Partially joking but ATM the game is less active due to burn out and people moving on.

A bunch of folks went for the same farming strat and now the market is flooded. There are thousands of more Omens of Lights in circulation than other valuable farmables so the price bottomed out.

Just go look at the snapshot of "quantity" for various items on https://poe2scout.com/economy/ritual and it's pretty obvious what happened.

It's also the perfect storm of being a strat that can be run during normal mapping with minimal setup (abyss tabs drop like candy) hence the flood of items.

Been a good league 👌

There are way fewer divines being generated out of temples due to less people farming temples overall at this point in the league. Combine that with Omen of Light farming being one of the most popular farming strategies this league. The ratio of supply between omen of light and divines has changed (more omens of light relative to Divines) thus the value of divines increase while value of omen of light decreases.

If you click into the page dedicated to Omen of Light and expand the timeline to the entire league, then you'll see that Omen of Light has been decreasing in price steadily for a long time now and that nothing happening recently is a departure from the long-term trend of the price.

This -71% number is over the last 7 days and is just a result of how the math of percentage change works for small numbers. For example, going from 2 to 1 is a -50%, but going from 100 to 99 is a -1% despite that being the same reduction in price. When you're on a downward linear trend, as numbers get smaller, the percentage changes get bigger.

Like if something starts at a price of 100 and goes down by 10 every seven days, then it's 100, 90, 80, 70, 60, etc. And if you did the percentage changes on each change then it'd be -10%, -11%, -13%, -14%, -17%, -20%, -25%, -33%, -50%
