I love this as an alternative

So what happens when it gets wet? I fethers from waterfowl would presumably shed water I'd expect a plant based produce to absorb and retain water. and it's just just about getting caught in the rain. You're going to sweat inside of a jacket and that moisture has to go somewhere

This seems great, but are downsides to using this alternative?

What's the price of this though?

This isn’t a new idea at all. Back in the day, life jackets were made using cattail fuzz for the buoyant interior layer.
