TikTok freezes views at 500 despite very high like ratio

Hi everyone, I'm a wlw couple content creator and I'm very puzzled about my recent engagement. I've been posting high quality videos like always, and most of them are getting a staggering 90 likes in the first 300 views, literally within 5 minutes. Then, just out of nowhere, the views suddenly slow down and it stops getting pushed despite immediate and very active engagement.

For context, I first started posting in February, and since my very first video (which hit 1M views within a week) literally every single thing I posted would always hit at least 10k and on average 40k views within a day or two, and regularly over 100k as well. Recently, the account died (every new video stuck at 0 views, impossible to fix) so I started a new account. I'm very confused, because I post the exact same things: around 7 second long wlw jokes/relatable content. Basically every video I post goes on the same trajectory that on my old account would always lead to popularity - over 60 likes in 300 views/couple minutes - but then randomly gets frozen in the middle of doing very well.

I have checked my analytics and they are exactly the same on both accounts, which should imply that my new videos should do exactly as well as my old videos. But for some mysterious untraceable reason they're getting blocked. How do I resolve this? Does anyone else have experience with this?

One more thing is these prompts saying stuff like "Your content's fire-just needs more viewers. • Spend £9
get 26377 views" pop up under all of my new videos. Is it possible that they're freezing my views as some sort of strategy to get me to pay them?

Any insights are appreciated. Thanks!

I can promise you they are doing that. Plus just after you post something i bet in the next few videos the you swipe through will be an ai tiktok promote video telling you how good of an idea it is to use the promote feature. 22nd of Jan this year they mostly sold out to a few major investors so you know they will be pushing hard on raising their profit. Sorry i cant actually help, im just a developer lucky to get 100 views.

The 500 ceiling and the like ratio are measuring two different things, which is why a great ratio doesn't move it. the first push is a small test batch, and what decides whether you graduate out of it is completion and re-watch, not likes. likes come from the people who already made it to the end, so a video can have a killer ratio among the 400 who saw it and still stall, because the batch is asking "did most people watch through" and that pool is mostly people who bailed early.

the tell is in your own retention graph. if the curve drops off a cliff in the first couple seconds, your ratio is coming from the handful who stayed, and the system is reading that early drop, not the likes. a curve that stays flatish through the open tends to break the 500 wall even on a mediocre like count.

so i'd stop tuning the part that's already working (the ratio) and stare at second 1 to 3 instead. what's on screen before the first cut, how fast the first line pays off. that's the gate here, not engagement.

It makes me mad. My only videos that do well are my AI videos of pretty visuals but as soon as I talk about the same stuff in a voiceover and try to build a connected those stall. I get more likes per view on my voiceovers than my AI 🙄

A similar thing is happening to me. The bottom line is TikTok is greedy and want the poster to pay money to get views and/or only push videos that will keep viewers glued to their screens. Their goal is to get money from posters then hijack the brains of viewers to get money from them too. It’s dystopian but what can we expect.

Also, you say that you are using the same formula but if the content is different each video, then not really. Some content will resonate and some won’t even if to you they are all equally funny. TikTok will only push your ultra successful videos.

not sure how the tracking works as it’s banned here, but if it’s possible I think you should contact support it’s it’s not from their side it’s probably the algo blocking it for verification

the stall at a round number is tiktok's batch distribution, not a verdict on the video. it tests in waves with a checkpoint between them, and a video that stops at 300-500 despite strong engagement usually got held at a review step rather than rejected by the algorithm. two concrete things: open tiktok studio and check the video's status, if it's marked ineligible for the for you feed there's an appeal path right there. and don't delete and repost the same video, repeated identical uploads read as spam and make the account-level situation worse.

Does TikTok distribute videos based on where you are located?

I recently started a TikTok account where I share my experience living abroad in my native language. I expected my videos to reach people in my home country who are curious about what life is like here. But most of the people watching and commenting seem to be people from my same country who already live here too. They comment things like “I felt the same when I moved here.” It feels like TikTok is mainly showing my videos to people in the country where I currently live rather than people back home. Does TikTok prioritize showing videos based on the creator’s location at first? Or will the algorithm eventually reach people in other countries who speak the language?

Please drop advice, I've come to accept that I'm HORRIBLY addicted to social media

I got home from work at 2:30am, I got on Instagram around 3:00am, I've been up and now it's time for me to go back to work, no sleep LITERALLY from 3:00am to 2:00pm I was scrolling and commenting on social media, the whole time I'm scrolling and scrolling, I'm telling myself "man you need to get off" "if you read a book, you will be sleep in 10 mins" but I never do. I feel it's partly to do with the content on my social media, it's not a bunch of funny, mindless videos. It's informational, hidden history, metaphysics, etc... I LEARN from them but for some reason it's almost impossible to just put the damn phone down🫠 I'm not looking for sympathy or "just delete the app". I'm looking for real steps to take, or people who have also been super addicted to social media who got out of that HOLE. It's like these past 5 months has PASSED BY due to me constantly on social media but I'm tired of it.

When do you decide a social platform is sending the wrong kind of traffic?

I've been looking at social traffic reports more closely lately, and I keep running into the same problem: a platform can look successful while doing almost nothing for the business. Lots of impressions and clicks, but very few people stick around, return, enquire or buy. I used to compare platforms mostly by sessions and CTR. Now I'm more interested in whether the post and landing page make the same promise, and what people actually do after the click. I'm also not sure it makes sense to judge every network the same way. Someone arriving from LinkedIn may be researching a business problem. An Instagram visitor may need a shorter, more visual path before they're ready to act. The difficult part is deciding when there's enough evidence to stop investing in a channel. Low volume makes the data noisy, but "awareness is hard to measure" can also become an excuse to keep doing something that isn't working. Have you ever stopped using a platform that was sending plenty of traffic because the visitors were the wrong fit? What convinced you?

i got 4.5million views last week, high level blueprint.

i went viral. 4.5million views last week. how? or more like how tf can you or your companies or your employees do this? I've been posting content consistently for 2 years, and this is my blueprint. Your content is mainly formats, subjects, and user value. in that order. 1. Format - steal your formats from other accounts that are doing well right now. For my account, before & afters work best, followed by 4-part transformation videos. Followed by talking to the camera storytimes. \*once you find a video format that works keep using it ver and over until you literally hit 1M views or followers. If its working, keep doing it. duh.\* 2. subjects - what is your video about? pick 1 subject and every video is a slight variation of that. mine is my transformation story. ("I went into the hospital for psychosis, after that I got super depressed, then I knew I wanted to make a change, so I founded my company \[name redacted\] and focused on trying to build a life.") 3. user value - why tf would anyone watch you? they dont care about you, they care about themselves. Are you showing something they need to see? Giving unique/accurate/useful advice? Offering a valuable shift in perspective? Connecting them to resources? (My personal approach to user value is to give it all away for free. Leave it all on the floor. If I know something of value to you I will simply tell you for free and generously. If my app is good, you will use it. If my content is good, you will follow me without me needing to do any bamboozling). So there is it! Format, Subject, User Value is my high level blueprint. I can break down how i researched and decided on my specific styles for each if anyone finds that interesting. My next post on this subject will me how I read my analytics to decide what content to post/not post. "the medium is the message." the 🐐, Marshall McLuhan. **#earlystagecompany** **#creatorfounder** **#consumerapps** **#buildinginpublic** **#socialmedia** **#lifemaxing**

Sharing my learnings and hoping to learn more from you!

i've recently started posting more on social media (professionally for work), but i find it quite challenging. i talked to some friends in the industry and wanted to share some learnings, and most importantly, also to learn from all of you. a few learnings: 1. **post consistently**. it helps a lot with building up the profile, and sometimes, there'll be that 1 post that will just randomly get favored by the algorithm. posting consistently helps increasing the odds for that to happen. 2. **content scheduling**. personally, i find it hard to post consistently because it takes a lot of time to prepare for content. so, i've been trying to get into rhythm of building up better schedule so that i can batch prepare content, and schedule the posts. 3. **iterate on the content format**. keep trying out different format, and if something works, double down on it. if not, then take a step back. what have you tried? what's working and what's not?
