i've recently started posting more on social media (professionally for work), but i find it quite challenging.

i talked to some friends in the industry and wanted to share some learnings, and most importantly, also to learn from all of you.

a few learnings:

  1. post consistently. it helps a lot with building up the profile, and sometimes, there'll be that 1 post that will just randomly get favored by the algorithm. posting consistently helps increasing the odds for that to happen.

  2. content scheduling. personally, i find it hard to post consistently because it takes a lot of time to prepare for content. so, i've been trying to get into rhythm of building up better schedule so that i can batch prepare content, and schedule the posts.

  3. iterate on the content format. keep trying out different format, and if something works, double down on it. if not, then take a step back.

I have the same issues as you mentioned. Posting consistently and scheduling weekly content upfront. I'm thinking it's more of a habit, first it's hard, but then it gets easier the more reps you put in. I got few viral posts here and there and it gives me a short dopamine rush, but then I post something new, and no one cares. I guess you have to become ok with that, not all your content will get great engagement. I'm also using my own tool to post everywhere.

Instagram denied a report about blatant animal abuse in a reel.

I followed an Instagram page, @thingsinmicrowave because it was cool seeing random stuff in a microwave. But about 8 hours ago they posted a video of them microwaving an alive cockroach, the full thing. I understand it’s a cockroach but it’s sick and twisted to do this and then post it. I reported it to insta but the report came back with the content still being allowed on the app. I can’t be the only one who thinks this is wrong right? Like I said I know it’s a bug and most people kill them with a shoe or something, but to catch it, put it in the microwave, edit it and post it, and not once think “this is wrong” is crazy to me.

TikTok freezes views at 500 despite very high like ratio

Hi everyone, I'm a wlw couple content creator and I'm very puzzled about my recent engagement. I've been posting high quality videos like always, and most of them are getting a staggering 90 likes in the first 300 views, literally within 5 minutes. Then, just out of nowhere, the views suddenly slow down and it stops getting pushed despite immediate and very active engagement. For context, I first started posting in February, and since my very first video (which hit 1M views within a week) literally every single thing I posted would always hit at least 10k and on average 40k views within a day or two, and regularly over 100k as well. Recently, the account died (every new video stuck at 0 views, impossible to fix) so I started a new account. I'm very confused, because I post the exact same things: around 7 second long wlw jokes/relatable content. Basically every video I post goes on the same trajectory that on my old account would always lead to popularity - over 60 likes in 300 views/couple minutes - but then randomly gets frozen in the middle of doing very well. I have checked my analytics and they are exactly the same on both accounts, which should imply that my new videos should do exactly as well as my old videos. But for some mysterious untraceable reason they're getting blocked. How do I resolve this? Does anyone else have experience with this? One more thing is these prompts saying stuff like "Your content's fire-just needs more viewers. • Spend £9 get 26377 views" pop up under all of my new videos. Is it possible that they're freezing my views as some sort of strategy to get me to pay them? Any insights are appreciated. Thanks!

Meta's $17bn teen settlement: we read the 130-page agreement, and it doesn't quite match Meta's own announcement

You can limit a LinkedIn Page post to a specific audience, but only if more than 300 of your followers match it

Ran into this while setting up audience-limited posts on a LinkedIn company page, so sharing in case it saves someone the confusion. LinkedIn lets a Page post go to a subset of your followers instead of all of them: by location, language, job function, seniority, industry or company size. It's basically organic targeting, and it's handy if you post in two languages or only sell in some countries. The catch: the combination you pick has to match more than 300 of your Page's followers. Below that, LinkedIn won't send it to the smaller group. We were publishing through LinkedIn's API and the post was rejected outright rather than quietly going to everyone. On a newer Page, almost any two stacked filters fall under the line. What worked for us: * Use one filter, not several. Location on its own clears 300 far more often than location plus seniority. * Look at your follower demographics first (Page analytics, Followers) so you know which filters actually have the numbers before you write the post. * If you can't clear it, post to everyone and write the first line for the people you want. The first line decides who stops scrolling anyway. Has anyone found a good way to reach a small slice of followers on LinkedIn without hitting that floor?
